Lo curioso es que con nosotros se cuenta la historia de que San Nicolás viene a nuestros países en barco de vapor desde España y no se le da de comer 🤔 pero sí que nuestros niños son muy buenos esta semana escriben una carta con lo que les gustaría recibir de juguetes a San Nicolás y ponen una herradura con zanahoria para el caballo y vaso de ginebra para San Nicolás y el negro Pete.

El 6 de diciembre todos se despiertan temprano y no se les permite ir al salón hasta que los padres den el visto bueno. Hay chocolate, Mazapán en forma de cerdos. 

EN LA TRADICIÓN BELGA SAN NICOLÁS VIENE DE ESPAÑA.

En el mes de noviembre el alcalde cada año lo recibe y le da la bienvenida a la ciudad, desde el Puerto de Amberes. Desde aquí, como ya es tradicón, comienza un desfile que termina en la Plaza Mayor; por supuesto durante todo el trayecto San Nicolás está rodeado de niños y sus padres. A este evento aucden alrededor de 12,000 personas. 

Mientras tanto para la comunidad francófona, Saint-Nicolas llega viajando en su asno mágico y lo acompaña el personaje de Père Fouettard, aunque en todo el país se coincide en representar a San Nicolás con una gran barba blanca, un traje de obispo y un largo cetro. Es también tradición dejarle algo de beber junto a los zapatos en los que depositará los regalos, al igual que alguna zanahoria para su caballo u asno.

The funny thing is that with us they tell the story that St. Nicholas comes to our countries by steamship from Spain and is not fed 🤔 but yes our children are very good this week they write a letter with what they would like to receive as toys for St. Nicholas and put a horseshoe with carrot for the horse and glass of gin for St. Nicholas and black Pete.
On the 6th December everyone wakes up early and is not allowed to go into the hall until the parents give the go ahead. There is chocolate, Marzipan in the shape of pigs. 

IN THE BELGIAN TRADITION ST. NICHOLAS COMES FROM SPAIN.

Every year in November, the mayor receives him and welcomes him to the city from the Antwerp harbour. From here, as is the tradition, a parade starts and ends at the Main Square; of course, all along the way, St. Nicholas is surrounded by children and their parents. About 12,000 people attend this event. 

Meanwhile for the French-speaking community, Saint-Nicolas arrives on his magic donkey and is accompanied by the character of Père Fouettard, although throughout the country Saint Nicholas is depicted with a big white beard, a bishop’s costume and a long sceptre. It is also traditional to leave him something to drink next to the shoes in which he will place the gifts, as well as some carrots for his horse or donkey.
