CACEREÑEANDO, por Juan de la Cruz Gutiérrez. El Opus de aquel Cáceres. El Opus of that Cáceres.

Juan de la Cruz Gutiérrez. Plaza Mayor, Periódico Extremeño. 30.01.2021

Through the Causers of Those Times began its first steps the Eopus Dei. In 1951, the first aggregate, Concepción Alvarez Jusué, was incorporated. An institution created by 1928 by Monsignor Escrivá de Balaguer, whose members move in their labors with discretion and prudence. So much so that looking at those steps of history is not too easy to rip out names…

But if there remained the concern of José Ramón Herrero Fontana, Civil Governor, between 1961 and 1963, which is 26 of the 83 founders of Opus Dei, who «beeped» (signed) for the Work in 1935, noted collaborator with Escrivá de Balaguer. At that stage, some meetings of contacts and terns already took place, in the Bukhaaco library, at the front of sisters Sacra and Loli Ruiz, there in the arcades of the Plaza, in the house of Lóez-Montenegro, in the Plaza de la Concepción, in the Palace of the Golfines, with Don Gonzalo as host, on the estate of the painter Vázquez Solana near Malparatida de Cáceres. And others, women, in the Little Sisters of the Poor and a clinic.

Initial chjarlas of historical, artistic, cultural cut, with the presence of numerary members arriving dwsde Madrid, to, according to pricediera, incorporate the young aspiring Caceres within the lines of action, which was continued with talks of formation and retreat under the coordinates of the Work. Always, of course, within that discretion with which they walked in their footsteps, trying to extend their fan among people who might be able to sign part of their ranks. They were looking for profiles of maximum caution, careful and neat, delivered in their efforts.

In reality, as far as we can be touched, there were many calls, but not all of them chosen. Names?. The popular history and the streets know some of the time, which stood out with preference in the social spheres, Herrero Fontana was. also a governor committed to the province.
