Nosotros usábamos una boya roja de unos 10 centímetros y el hilo era de cobre. La vieja tira mucho y hay que estar bien agarrado al suelo. La carnada era una jaca peluda que yo cogía el día antes y engoabamos el sitio media hora antes. Toda la pesca de bajura es un oficio precioso que las autoridades han dejado morir.

When I was a child and a young man, I used to fish the vieja with a rod with my father in La Laja, almost the same as in the video. We used a red buoy about 10 centimetres long and the line was copper. The old one pulls a lot and you have to keep a good grip on the ground. The bait was a hairy jack I used to catch the day before and we would set the spot half an hour before. All inshore fishing is a precious trade that the authorities have let die.

Quando ero bambino e giovane, pescavo la vieja con la canna con mio padre a La Laja, quasi come nel video. Abbiamo usato una boa rossa lunga circa 10 centimetri e il filo era di rame. Quello vecchio tira molto e bisogna tenere una buona presa sul terreno. L’esca era un jack peloso che avevo catturato il giorno prima, e avevamo preparato lo spot mezz’ora prima. Tutta la pesca costiera è un mestiere prezioso che le autorità hanno lasciato morire.

Als kind en jongeman viste ik vroeger met mijn vader in La Laja met een hengel op de vieja, bijna zoals in de video. We gebruikten een rode boei van ongeveer 10 centimeter lang en de lijn was van koper. De oude trekt veel en je moet een goede grip op de grond houden. Het aas was een harige bok die ik de dag ervoor had gevangen en we zetten de stek een half uur van tevoren uit. Alle kustvisserij is een kostbare handel die de autoriteiten hebben laten doodbloeden.
