In the islands a dance called SIRINOQUE survives at present whose main choreographic features are the percussion of the feet on the ground and the approach and distance of each one of the components. The presence of numerous Italians in the Canary Islands during the 16th century makes it not unreasonable to think that any dance teacher of this nationality could make use of the choreographic and spectacular possibilities of this. Therefore, it is not surprising that the first detailed description appears in IL BALLARINO by Marco Fabritio Caroso da Sarmoneta, published in Venice in 1581.
